Martha Stewart Wanna-be

This may never happen again so I have to document it! Within the same week or so, I made and decorated a cake with fondant all by myself, and made a fruit bouquet with the help of my hubby! I really do have an (somewhat) artistic side! Who knew?

Dan went out of town for a few days so me and Logan had to find ways to pass the time. I have always wanted to use fondant, just to see if I could do it and make it look good. I found a recipe online, and after going to a million stores to get some of the weird ingredients, I was able to make the fondant from scratch! The cake was out of a box, but at least the frosting was from scratch, haha.

Here is the cake...

Not bad for a first timer, eh? After making the fondant, I realized that I only had two food colors, Green and Yellow, but I think it turned out alright.

My sister-in-law had a birthday last month, and we all wanted to do something special for her. She loves fruit, and we weren't about to pay money for one of those professional fruit bouquets, so we googled a bunch of pictures and made our own!

Yeah, it doesn't look quite as good as the professional bouquets, but we thought we did a pretty good job for the short amount of time we had!

  1. I have to agree, you did an awsome job. Love the fruit basket. Doing it yourself means more to the person receiving it.

You did a great job. Tina loves Cake Boss too.
You can plan your cutie's first birthday cake.
