Update

So many things have happened these last few months, I don't even know where to begin.

January, February, and March were filled with sickness. RSV, multiple double ear infections, snot running everywhere (you're welcome for the visual). And with only one car (we've been car-hunting for a second car for a year, and I'm so glad we haven't decided on anything yet because of what is coming up in the next paragraph), the kids and I were stuck in the house for most of it. Not fun. Claire finally got ear tubes at the end of March!

Then the weather started to get warmer, the birds were singing, and Dan lost his job. The latter sounds horrible and devastating, but in reality, it was a HUGE blessing so it fits right into the singing birds and beautiful weather. His job had so many ups and downs we were ready for a change. After a lot of prayer, we decided it was the right thing to take a leap of faith and buy a franchise with Dan's dad.

This is an amazing opportunity and I know they will both be great at it. The business is called Schooley Mitchell. They specialize in cost-recovery for telecom and merchant accounts. So if you have a business, they analyze your telephone and merchant services, and find where they can save you money. They don't charge you anything except for a percentage of what they save you. Pretty much a win-win for everyone.

Which brings me to my next event: Dan leaving to Canada for almost NINE days for training. I know that there are a lot of people who travel for their job, and you learn how to live with it, but this was the longest Dan had ever been gone, and it was harder than I thought it would ever be. The one really nice thing was that I had the car the whole time, so the kids and I could come and go as we pleased :)

Before he left I made a package of envelopes, one envelope for each day, that had a riddle in it. The riddle led to a password that he had to type into a secret video that I had made him each day. If any of you know Dan, you know that he is obssessed with his kids. I knew he would need to see them everyday.

Here are a couple of the videos.

Please excuse the mess in the room at the end of this. I was reorganizing, and had to stop and film how crazy they were. Password: football

Having Dan gone made me realize just how much I need him. He is my anchor!!

By the way, I am obsessed with this song (Phillip Phillips' "Gone, gone, gone.")..

Here are some pictures of where Dan was.. it was beautiful!

I laughed so hard when I saw this was the car he had to drive! He couldn't sit up completely straight.

Where Justin Biebs used to play before he was famous

This was Dan's hotel. Right above a pub. Let's just say he didn't get much sleep on Friday and Saturday night..

On his last day, he was able to go to Niagra Falls. I was just a little jealous ;)

  3. You are such a good wifey---what an awesome thing for Dan to have those videos. You should have called, we would have kept you company. Randy goes to Asia for at least two weeks once or twice a year...I can totally sympathize, being a single parent SUCKS!
